The WPT Bellagio 2005
Welcomes Action Poker Network Players.

NasJones Bags $24,150 at the WPT
With
a field of 555 players all competing for the Grand Prize we are
proud to announce that NasJones (pictured) placed
in the money in this fabulous tournament. Buying into the tournament
for a measly 6¢, NasJones walked away from
Las Vegas with his pockets bulging with $24,150.
Now that is what I call a pay day!
All of the players we sent to Vegas had the chance to take in
the atmosphere before the big day, with a helicopter ride over
the Grand Canyon, an extravagant feast at the Tournament of Kings,
dinner at Drais plus of course spending money, travel and accommodation,
and the $15,000 buy-in to the tournament itself.
When the tournament kicked off, all five of our players knew the
immense task ahead of them would be tough, and unfortunately the
pressure told for two of our guys: OKKidd and GMoney007 who,
despite playing some tight poker, didn’t manage to finish
day 1.
That left three members in with a shot at the big time. Ducka221
who finished day 1 $100 behind one of the biggest names in poker
- Daniel Negreanu - wasn’t able to continue his run of good
form and didn’t manage to progress. RVRdogolf also couldn't
quite make it, despite some fantastic play. That just left NasJones.
NasJones took his place in the WPT history books with great style,
only narrowly losing out to a bad beat. But still I think the thought
of all that money should keep him from being too disappointed.
THE TOUR BEFORE THE TOURNY!
The morning before the big day, we took off for a spectacular
trip into the Grand Canyon. How did we get there? Helicopter of
course! We took off from the executive area of the Vegas airport.
The 3 hour trip was simply spectacular. We flew over the Hoover
Dam and Lake Meade before cresting an edge of the canyon. Then
the vastness of the Grand Canyon was unveiled before us, for as
far as the eye could see. In a word, magnificent.
The trip home included a close fly over of the strip. Seeing
the fountains of the Bellagio from the air completes the tour with
a touch of man made beauty.
THE FEAST
How do you round off a day in the Grand Canyon? You eat a $300
12 lb lobster and full steak dinner at the Rosewood Grille… home
of the largest lobsters in Vegas! Crack into a claw the size of
your hand. The players shared the lobster, then it was filet mignon
all around. This was truly a dinner fit for a million dollar poker
winner.
THE GAME
20 minutes before the start of the tournament, the Fontana Bar
in the Bellagio was packed with poker pros. They all seemed to
be there from Doyle Brunson to Daniel Negreanu. Finally the moment
of truth came. The 5 Diamond Classic at the Bellagio was about
to begin. Everyone had their game face on! Everyone did exceptionally
well but a special shout out goes to Malcolm, who made it deep
into day three and made it to the money, $24,150. Congratulations
Malcolm, you’re our pro!
