$500,000 Poker Shoot-Out

$500,000 Poker Shoot-Out
Comes to a Smashing Conclusion

El Duke 213, Jstgivr, Hock22, SqueegyKid, Lexa79 and the $200.000 winner, Finnguy.

We have a winner! The final table of the $500,000 Shoot-out has ended and the last six places in the tournament have been decided. Each of the players that took the trip to London, England was guaranteed at least $17,500 but only one of them would walk away with a full $200,000.

The players rode ins style through Central London

After a hearty breakfast the players made their way out of the hotel to be faced with an enormous Stretch Limousine complete with champagne on ice in the bar on board! The journey took them past many of London’s most famous landmarks including Westminster and Big Ben until we eventually pulled up outside the studio. The players were then shown the table they would be playing at.

Play was about to commence! The glamorous dealer walked into the studio and the players took their seats, the host then gave the introductions and the first cards were dealt.

The play was understandably tight for the first couple hours with nobody willing to take any real risks but Lexa79 soon found himself building a healthy stack after taking a few decent pots. Then came the first casualty of the day. The hand was dealt and with a bit of pre-flop action Jstgivr decided to push his stack and go all-in. There were folds around the table until it came to ELDUKE213 who, without a pause for breath, called the raise!

The game was on, and Jstgivr flipped over a beauty of a hand: King-Jack suited! ELDUKE213 on the other hand must have thought Jstgivr was bluffing as his cards showed Jack-2 off suit! A smile crept onto Jstgivr’s face as he saw his opponent’s cards, only for the flop to turn up another couple of 2’s giving ELDUKE213 the set! The turn gave Jstgivr a chance at a flush, but the river offered no help and he was forced to take the long walk from the table with $17,500 coming his way.

It didn’t take long for the next man to crash out, this time with Hock22 and ELDUKE213 fighting it out. Hock22 started the hand short-stack on the big blind, and with about 3000 chips in front of him. Hock22 with everyone folding or trying to limp in, hits up an all-in only for ELDUKE213 to call him at first shot, the rest of the table throwing their cards in.

Hock22 turned over Ace-5 and sat back to watch ELDUKE213 show… Jack-2 (off suit) AGAIN! Hock22’s face fell when he saw it, and sure enough the flop turns up a 2 as the first card, but nothing else to help either player. The turn… a jack! Already standing up Hock22 shook hands all round and left the table.

Over the next several hands the action moved back and forth around the table with the Lexa79 gradually losing his commanding chip lead, eventually to be beaten out of the tournament next and taking home the 4th place prize.

The chip lead changed hands several times over the course of the next hour or so with several of the players coming close to busting out but managing to pull themselves back from the brink, until the next player to walk the walk was the Jack-2 master himself – ELDUKE213! Taking the 3rd place prize of $37,500!

Now we were heads up for the big one! SqueegyKid and Finnguy were facing each other for the chance to take home $200,000! Time was virtually standing still when SqueegyKid pushed all-in pre-flop a few hands into the heads up, after a long deliberation Finnguy followed him and called the bet. SqueegyKid showed Ace-8, meanwhile Finnguy turned up a decent hand of King-Jack off suit. The flop turned 8-10-3 giving SqueegyKid a pair of 8’s but Finnguy sitting on a pile of outs. The turn threw up an Ace pairing a second of Jason’s hole cards and Finnguy was looking down and out with only 4 possible outs. Lady luck was certainly smiling his way as the only card that could help him came his way when the queen was shown on the river giving Finnguy the straight and the title!

SqueegyKid was honorable in defeat shaking Finnguy’s hand and despite the agony he must have been feeling smiling nonetheless.

Finnguy, gracious in victory, muted his celebrations and contented himself to just smiling broadly and no doubt thinking about what he was going to buy!
