We took off on Saturday from Amsterdam around 9:30am and arrived to Las Vegas Sunday morning. We checked into the Venetian Hotel and stayed in a beautiful room with a view to the swimming pools.
I played a 10k Grand Tournament with 100 players and I finished in 75th place. Good practice! On Monday, I registered for the Binion's Classic championship tournament. There were 58 other registrants. As I entered the first 2 breaks it went very well and I stood above average with 40 players remaining. Then it went downhill, and after dinner I went all in with QQ with 68T on the flop. A player called and he had J9, straight draw. The turn was a queen and the river a 3.
The next day I played another tournament with a $52 buyin and 38 registered players. I finished in 5th place with a $100 payout.
Everyone was very friendly and the food was incredibly cheap. For around $8 you could eat a one-half pound rib served with French fries, salad and coffee. A hotdog was only $1!
We had a great time and I enjoyed playing "real life" poker!
We left on Wednesday at 4am and arrived to Holland on Tuesday morning. It took me 1 whole day to restore from my jetlag. I was able to buy 40 packages of cigarettes for only $90 and a bottle of Bacardi for only $15 at the airfield in Atlanta.
I wish to thank you all for arranging this trip in a quick and impressive manner.
